OIB COMMISSIONER RACE Q&A FORUM
Tues, October 7th starting at 6:00 PM
OIB Community Center - 44 E First St, OIB

In keeping with tradition, the OIPOA is deep into the planning of the "OIB Commission Race Q&A Forum". This event will provide property owners with an opportunity to hear directly the commissioner candidates.

The OIPOA will share this week how questions can be submitted, parking options for attending in-person, and be assured - we will make recordings available as well. Communications will flow through our website OIPOANC.com, Facebook.com/OIPOANC and cross-posted to Ocean Isle Beach Homeowners FB Group, through our emailed Newsletter (sign-up at oipoanc.com), and more, in an effort to reach as many Fulltime Residents and Property Owners as possible.

MARK ROBERTSON
I believe that true leadership begins with listening and serving. As a full-time resident of Ocean Isle Beach for 27 years, I have been committed to working alongside neighbors to solve problems and improve daily life. In my role as President of the Ocean Isle Property Owners Association for the past 14 years, I have led not by title, but by service: listening to property owners, addressing their concerns, overseeing projects, and ensuring that resources are used wisely and transparently for the benefit of the property owners.

While I will share many examples of this during my campaign, the first is when several residents and owners on Monroe Street came to me about a helicopter tour business that had been permitted to operate out of the Odell Williamson Airport. The helicopter flight path was over their houses, was at a very low altitude, and was constant. So much so that one resident said he could not have a conversation on his deck because the helicopter was coming over so low and so frequently. Realizing that the Town doesn’t control airspace above the island, I reached out to the FAA. After working with Alexandra Grady, FAA Federal Safety Officer of the Greensboro office, eventually the flight path was changed to Causeway Dr., our commercial corridor, and at a much higher altitude.

I view the role of commissioner as an opportunity to continue that same work - serving as a voice for residents, fostering collaboration, and making decisions based on listening to input from my constituents.
